Listing an Auction Item

  1. Choose a Category.  Select one category from the drop down list in the List Item form.

  2. Create a title.  Accurately describe your item with a title that can be up to 120 characters long. Titles which utilize good key words will attract attention and help to sell your item!

  3. Compose a Description.  With this section you should accurately describe your item and attempt to answer potential questions from the buyer.

  4. Insert Pictures.  You may upload images with the List Item form, or link to an image on another web site by providing the complete URL to the image. When linking make sure to use a complete URL beginning with http://. If you aren't sure of your image URL, copy what you have typed into a new browser window and see if your image appears. If it doesn't, check your path and file name, as they are case sensitive in most instances.

  5. Select a Price.  Selling Price is the price the bid must reach for the item to be considered sold. In a non reserve auction, the Selling Price will also be the starting bid.

  6. Determine a Reserve Price. This is optional and left blank for Non Reserve or Regular auctions. Entering a price in this field starts the bidding lower than the Selling Price and hides it. Bids will be accepted at the Reserve Starting Bid, but must reach the Selling Price to be considered sold.

  7. Enter a Buy Price.  This is also optional. The amount must be at or higher than the Selling Price, and if a bid reaches this amount it will end the auction immediately and the item will be considered sold.

  8. Decide Shipping and Payment Terms. Boxes are provided for you to enter your Shipping and Payment Terms. You may also set defaults for this form in the Settings and Messages sections of the Seller Tools menu.

  9. Pick an Ending Time.  You may select a day and time your auction will end from the drop down box on the List Item form.

  10. Submit Your Listing. You must pay for all auction fees up front before your listing is submitted. You can do so at the Purchase Seller Listing Credits page which you can access from your members area. Once your items are listed your auction will run until the end time you selected, unless you have listed a Restricted Item. Items on the restricted list will be removed from the site and no refund will be given.

Features and Extras

Saving and Starting Auctions:

Once you have completed the listing form you may start your auction immediately, or save the auction for later. Saving the auction for later will allow you to prepare auctions in advance. Saved auctions are accessed from the Seller Tools menu in the Members Area, by clicking the "My Auction List" link and then by clicking the "Pending Auctions" link. From the Pending Auctions page, listings may be sent to auction in groups. This is also useful so that you can make one bulk payment to list an entire group of auctions.

Settings and Messages:

As mentioned above you may set your default Shipping and Payment terms in the Settings and Messages section of the Seller Tools menu. You may also add a note to buyers which is included in the bottom of the winning bid notice. Here is where you should be including instructions further explaining your payment and shipping policies to the buyer so the transaction my be concluded swiftly.

When Your Auction Ends:

When your auction has ended notices are sent out to winning bidders. Notices are sent once per day, approximately at 1 AM EST. We do this so that we can combine multiple winners into one notification. The buyer and seller will each receive an email with the list of auctions won, and auctions that did not meet the reserve, and the payment instructions provided by the seller.

Purchases / Sales Area:
Your members area has a very handy section called Purchases / Sales where buyers and sellers can go to view the winning bids. Copies of the email invoices are kept there, and links are provided to make it easy for contacting the other party. This is also the section where Feedback can be left for another member, relating to a particular transaction.

Relisting Auctions:

An auction may be relisted once it is over and notices have been sent. From the Seller Tools menu choose Relist Closed Auctions. You may view your sold and unsold auctions here, and relist in groups or individually.

Featured Items:

All Items listed on MyAI have an equal chance of randomly appearing on the home page as a featured item. This service is free to anyone who lists items on the site but does not guarantee your item will appear as a featured item.
