GUITAR...three-per-side tuners, Yamaha original AES bridge, six individual string tailpieces single cutaway contoured mahogany body, quilted maple top, set maple neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearl dot inlays, black headstock overlay with Yamaha logo, two exposed humbucker pickups (Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge position), three chrome knobs (two v, tone), three-way pickup switch, jack mounted on back of guitar, chrome hardware. The AES620 electric has caught on—not only with savvy guitar players, but with some of the most respected names in the music press as well. The October 2003 issue of GuitarONE magazine presented the AES620 with its 1 Award, calling the axe "a nearly flawless instrument with attractive and functional design innovations at a very comfortable price." The staff of Guitar Player magazine described the contoured body guitar as "a nurturing creative partner, a stone looker and an excellent value" in the November 2003 issue, where it earned the Editor's Pick Award. "The AES620 gives players an axe that can withstand the punishing pace of today's harder-edged, guitar-driven music," states Ken Dapron, director, Yamaha Guitar Development. "It's got the characteristic mammoth sound, fast feel, cutting-edge appearance and an incredible price point that will suit any lead or rhythm player. Plus, it's perfect for today's hard rock, alt-rock, punk or metal styles."
Call It "The Award-Winning AES620" Designed at Yamaha's USA Custom Guitar shop, the AES620 features a highly contoured, solid Nato body with a Flame Maple veneer top, fast Nato neck and Rosewood fingerboard. Electronics include an Alnico humbucking neck and Duncan JB bridge pickups, plus active and passive volume controls. Other hot design elements include a low-mass Tun-O-Matic style bridge, plus chrome knobs, tuning machines, toggle switch and logo. Color options include Translucent Dark Red, Royal Blue and Faded Burst. "This AES rocks as hard as its older siblings," states Joseph Brasler, marketing manager, Yamaha Guitars. "It looks great, and the sound and feel are loud and tight. Best of all, the price point makes this axe ideal for the younger player, or for the rock guitarist needing a reliable second instrument.",
